I kinda like this one - 5/30

I must say I am still really disappointed with yesterdays effort. However, today I went back to the sort of inspiration that had guided me on the first three days and I feel much better for it as a result.

There were a number of things I looked to for inspiration as I sat down to write this evening. Recently I have been thinking a lot about transformation. That is it often through tests and crisis where the greatest transformation in oneself can take place. How when we are most pushed to our limits that we are able to overcome our shortcomings and grow. Furthermore, I was talking and reflecting with friends about crisis and what it meant to them. One of these friends mentioned a passage from a prayer by Bahá'u'lláh called the "Fire Tablet" which is all about tests, crisis and difficulties. In the passage Bahá'u'lláh tells us that "Thou wert created to bear and endure", meaning as humans we are literally created to be able to withstand and overcome tests. How beautiful is that. I have read that prayer literally everyday for over five months and I still had not been able to see the clarity of that message until now. Today, I came across a this quotation by Abdu'l - Bahá telling us to "Keep [our] faces steadfastly turned to the light, so that ye may be as lightened torches in the dark places of life". On the surface these two quotations I have mentioned don't necessarily link to each other immediately. But, as I thought about it I began to think that we turn our faces to the light when we are in darkness so that we are able to bear and endure any test that come our way.

I understand that perhaps this all sounds a bit much for a blog post about screen writing. I know that not everyone who may read this will believe in the same things as me and that is totally okay! I am not here to say what is right or what is wrong. I just want to explain my thought process and inspiration behind todays offering.

The story is about a community who live in the darkness of a cave and fear the light. However one member of this community discovers a secret that could change the lives of all inside the cave forever. What I will say about this script is that I am really happy that I've mostly been able to tell this story visually. This is a real first for me! There are only two lines of dialogue spoken and that is all. I wanted the story to work on as universal a level as possible and it was a great exercise in visual storytelling. It felt good to try something different after a few days of dialogue heavy shorts.

I hope that tomorrows post is finished earlier than 1:12am. (Thats never going to happen.)
