Today is something truly special from the most random part of my brain. I have often thought that it is sometimes important to embrace the most random thoughts we can have and just run with them. The script today was actually based on a voice note I sent to a few friends about a month ago and when I re listened to it today I almost immediately felt pride at how I was able to improvise this mess and just say whatever flowed out of my random brain.
See, when I am alone I often do this. This being creating characters as I talk to myself and play out scenes. I do it a lot whilst I am driving and some of the best stories I've ever come up with have been in those improvised car sessions on my own. There was one in particular that stands out. An old man calling up a friend only to find someone else answer the phone. The person ended up being the long lost son of the old mans friend who had died last week. Mental. It was very gripping as I drove to see a very dear friend across the other side of London.
Anyway, If there is something to be learnt today then it is to encourage yourself to follow your most random and creative thoughts and see where they go. This random exchange I made on a voice note has provided me with a short film and a story that actually doesn't go anywhere but, maybe someday it will...
